      • NANOHACH is a contemporary dance theatre company founded (2004) by graduates of the Duncan Centre Conservatory in Prague. The company’s mission is to create a platform for the realization of dance-theatre projects of a high professional level and to creatively co-operate with international choreographers and cultural organizations. The group regularly perfoms in traditional theater settings, but very often NANOHACH interjects itself into public spaces such train and subway stations, factory halls, galleries, and gardens. Outside of their main activities within the company, members of NANOHACH actively participate in contemporary culture events and performances in the Czech Republic.
        All NANOHACH performances have drawn attention from both critics and audiences. Awards and nominations include Best Interpretation Award 2006 for Synchronicity (ch.: M. Záhora,), SAZKA Award 2007 for Discovery in Dance and Best Interpretation Award 2007 for Portrait (ch.:I. M. Popovici /ro/), The company has collaborated also with K. Foss /no/ (-gracerunners-, 2007), N. Charnock /uk/ (Love me, 2008), P. Fornayová /sk/ (Who is Annik?, 2009), F. Ramalingom /fr/ (Brut, 2011).
        NANOHACH is centered in the Czech Republic, but has presented itself throughout the world with performances in Argentina, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Norway, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Serbia, Spain, UK and The United States.
        Already in 2011 company performed at Kingfestival with solos DeRbeetle and Hechizada de Luxe.

        Jan Komarek
        Actor, director and lighting designer, studied promotional graphic design at the School of Applied Arts in Prague. He worked as an apprentice to the Drak Puppet Theatre in Hradec Kralove. In 1983 he emmigrated to France, where he founded his own company MIMO Theatre, performing in his own shows as a puppeteer and clown. He moved to Canada in 1985, where he founded SOUND IMAGE THEATRE ? conceptual and movement theatre, for whom he created about twenty works. As a lighting designer he has worked for theatre and dance companies in Toronto and Montreal. He is the recipient of several prestigious awards: he has, for example, been awarded the Dora Mavor Moore Prize for direction, for lighting design and for music. He returned to Prague in 2001 and has been working primarily in the alternative dance scene. He has created eight works, which have been performed in theatres both in Prague and the provinces and at various festivals. Among his most recent projects is the site-specific project «Dance of the Paper Dancers», acclaimed by both critics and public alike, «The Awakening of the Genius Loci» and «Table Culture». Jan Komarek was elected Theatre Personality of 2008 by Czech festival the Next Wave.
