The Novgorod academic drama theatre named after of F.M.Dostoevsky

International theatrical festival » King Fairy tale » is glad to present the new project » The MEETING of FESTIVALS » in which the performances of theatres organizing their own theatrical festivals will be presented. This year the project will be opened by Novgorod Academic Drama Theatre named after F.M. Dostoevsky, which represents the International theatrical festival of chamber performances based on F.Dostoevsky’s works.
The last year was declared by UNESCO the year of Dostoevsky. It commemorates some memorial dates — the 500th anniversary of the clan of Dostoevskys; 185 years since the writer?s date of birth, 160 years since the date of birth of his wife Anna Grigorjevna. Performance » I am happy, happy, happy ? » was produced by director Sergey Morozov for The 10th Annual International festival of chamber performances based on the writer?s works, which is traditionally held in Veliky Novgorod and Staraya Russa. It is the play about boundless love of Anna Dostoevskaya for her husband. She was happy — she was frightened neither of a disparity in years, nor of his incurable mental disease, nor terrible hardship when he was threatened constantly with a shame of debt prison, nor of his reputation of the former convict. All that she wanted was that people would understand, that there is no happiness in inactivity, that the idea not working » will go out «, that it is impossible to love your neighbor, » not sacrificing him something from your labour «, that » it?s mean to live at the expense of others » and that » happiness consists not in happiness particularly but only in achieving it».

The performance was presented at the 10th International festival of chamber performances based on Dostoevsky’s works. The performer of a leading role Lubov Lushechkina won the prize of the festival as the best actress. The performance has also been shown in the Central House of the Actor (Moscow) at the festival » The Theatrical Ring. Arbat meetings «.

• The Novgorod academic drama theatre named after of F.M.Dostoevsky has the long creative history. In 1825 the first stationary theatre was opened in Novgorod. During many years its repertoir has been extended, the theatre was working during the Revolution. In time of Second World War the theatre didn?t interrupt its creative activity. Since 1997 the theatre has had F.M.Dostoevsky’s name. The theatre participates actively in the International festival of chamber performances on F.M.Dostoevsky’s stories in Staraya Russa. The theatre took part and was the winner of Russian competitions and festivals.
  Today the theatre has significant actor’s and director’s potential, a high level of technical equipment and aims a serious creative goals.
  The repertoire of the theatre is formed on the best plays of Russian and foreign classics, including contemporary plays of modern playwrights.
