HANSA STREET THEATRE FESTIVAL

Velikiy Novgorod is one of the members of Medieval Hansa Trade Union and Hansa Street theatre festival is an special event of celebration of Hansa days in our old city. The first festival edition of Hansa Theatre festival was in period of XXIX Hansa days (June 18-21, 2009), when the city was celebrating its 1150th anniversary. Representatives of more than 100 European cities and 16 countries of Europe care gathering together for a few days in Velikiy Novgorod to present their traditions in arts and find possibilities of cooperation in economics, politics and culture.

HANSA THEATRE FESTIVAL presented the art of street theatres from Russia and Europe at first time in Velikiy Novgorod in frameworks of Hansa days 2009. Festival presented shows from Sweden, Finland, Poland, Russia.  We were happy to present one of the famouse street theatre and festival as our partners — FETA (Gdansk, Poland). This project has support of Administration of Velikiy Novgorod. The new edition of festival presents new forms of outdoor performances from Baltic countries, Scandinavia and North Europe. The festival aims at presenting the bright forms of shows to visitors and citizens of Velikiy Novgorod, to find innovations of modern street performances and interesting productions of contemporary theatres. This project will help to renovation the collaboration of Hansa cities, to reconstruction the culture connections between cities in area of modern dramatic art.
